Ecole Shalom: As of recent, HAC-Haiti no longer has funding available to support our school-feeding program. In previous years students at Ecole Shalom were provided a free vegetarian lunch during school hours. Many times this was the only meal students would receive throughout the day. We believe that education and proper nutrition are essential ingredients to student’s productivity at school. With the recent introduction of additional after school programs HAC-Haiti is placing importance on the revitalizing of the school-feeding program. Students wishing to stay after school, participate in our programs, and play sports will need a healthy meal to sustain their energies until they are able to return home with their families. Individuals wishing to donate to the school feeding program are encouraged to contact donate@hac-haiti.org One time and monthly donations are accepted.
School Uniforms: It is a requirement at Ecole Shalom for all students to have proper uniforms and school attire. While progress has been made some of our students are still unable to afford school uniforms. Donations can be made to help supplement parents costs of uniforms.
Child Sponsorship: While HAC-Haiti provides a subsidized and economically low-cost solution to primary education in Haiti, our students are still required to pay school fees. We believe that this helps parents prioritize education, helps our organization afford more qualified teachers, and allows us to run the school for a longer period of time during the week. Individuals can help parents supplement the cost of tuition by choosing to sponsor children currently enrolled in the school and unable to pay their school fees. Sponsorship can be made via a one time donation or on a monthly basis. A breakdown of current prices can be viewed here.
Books and School Supplies: With approximately one hundred children being educated daily at Ecole Shalom, school supplies are continually running low. Children are constantly in need of new books, notebooks, pens, paper, and art supplies. Monetary donations are accepted to purchase these supplies in Haiti. Volunteers are also encouraged to bring extra school supplies down with them to Haiti when they arrive.
Woman’s Empowerment: Donations of craft supplies including but not limited to, sewing machines, fabric, thread, crochet needles, and crochet yarn are essential to keep the income generating aspect of our Woman’s Empowerment program running. HAC-Haiti seeks to provide the women in the community of Michaud with as many tools and materials needed for them to continue creating handicrafts to sell in the market. The more materials we have available the more women are able to participate in the program and make a supplemental income for their families. Monetary donations can also be made for the construction of a woman’s vocational training center and sewing rooms within the HAC-Haiti compound.
Goat Husbandry: $60 gift to our goat husbandry program can give a family a female goat which will greatly assist in meeting the economic needs of a rural Haitian family.
Micro-Finance: A $50 micro loan will give a woman in the market place a chance to expand her line of products to make her business more profitable and sustainable.
General Donations: General donations in the form of supplies and one time or monthly monetary contributions help HAC-Haiti:
- to effectively run our programs,
- expand our Haitian paid staff,
- hire additional teachers,
- continue to build additional classrooms for Ecole Shalom,
- develop a vocational training center for the adolescents and women in the community,
- expand our micro financing operation,
- and develop new programs.
Individuals can contact us at donate@hac-haiti.org to discuss options and ways to continue to support HAC-Haiti’s efforts in empowering the communities we serve and develop sustainable solutions to alleviate poverty.
